Breif About Government e Markeplace(GeM)

GeM is a short type of one stop Government e-Market Place facilitated by DGS&D where normal client goods and services can be procured through GeM portal. GeM is dynamic, self continuing and easy to use entrance for making procurement by Government officials.

Every Government Department has mandatory to purchase the product through GeM. According to Ministry of Finance adding a new Rule No. 149 in the General Financial Rules, 2017, Every Department following the rule.

The portal was launched on 9th August 2016 by the Commerce & Industry Minister. Procurement on GeM has been authorized by General Financial Rules by making necessary changes in government rules. Presently more than 1,482,898 products in about 336 product categories and more than 19,333 services are available on GeM portal.
Transactions for more than Rs 37,687 Crore have already been processed through GeM.
Buyer Organisations has enrolled 40,302 as well as Sellers & Service Providers also enrolled more than 299,059 on GeM Portal.
MSE Sellers & Service Providers has enrolled more than 59,540 and Orders Value (MSE %) is approx 50.73. Total order till now is 2,698,474. .
